Merry Christmas!

Christmas is my favorite time of year! It’s a time to be kind and generous, a time to spend with your family and enjoy all the good tidings of the season. I always look forward to some of the great movies about Christmas that show up at this time of year and I thought I would share them.

One of my favorites and lesser know movies about Christmas is The Lemon Drop Kid. It’s a lively Bob Hope caper based on a Damon Runyon story. Hope plays a con artist whose betting mistake leaves gangster Moose Moran $10,000 out of pocket. Given until Christmas to come up with the cash, he goes into scamming overdrive. This is my favorite scene from the movie:

Another great movie for this time of year is a flick called The Bishop’s Wife. Cary Grant is one of my favorite actors, North by Northwest is one of the best movies ever but I honestly think this is one of Grant’s finest performances. He plays an angel who comes down to help a pastor through some tough times and this is one of the best scenes of the movie:

What would Christmas be without these two:

While I love Linus’s speech about the true meaning of Christmas, I always love the opening scene of A Charlie Brown’s Christmas. This music just wraps it’s arms around that Christmas feeling:

I like to think that every person has something to offer this world. If I learned one thing in my military career, it’s that every person’s life has a meaning, from janitors to CEOs, we all have a purpose in this world. “Each man’s life touches so many other lives”, nobody encompasses that more than George Bailey, everyone should sit down and watch this movie once in their life, it shows the importance of every person and how they affect so many others.

Merry Christmas All!
