THE DOG & PONY SHOW

Yesterday, in what was another dog and pony show put on by the US Senate, Anthony Fauci was brought in to be questioned on the 2020 US Covid response. I mean, we are still talking about non-existent election fraud in 2026, so why not rehash the 2020 Covid epidemic? Dr. Fauci was questioned and took the 5th amendment on every question, which of course, set off yet another round of political outrage by senators and the angry mob on the internet.

I quickly went to my copy of the US Constitution and there it was it black and white, the 5th amendment. I didn’t really need to check though because I knew it was still there. Know how I knew, President Trump used it over 400 times in his fraud case in 2022, Roger Stone used it during Jan 6 congressional investigations in 2021, Senator Rick Scott used it 75 times when he was investigated for Medicare fraud, former national security advisor Michael Flynn used it during investigations into his Russia connections.

All legal actions guaranteed by our Constitution and yet no one on the right was outraged by any of that.

I’ve read some of Fauci’s private diary writings, and it’s not a good look. He does seem like he’s a bit of a narcissist. Then again, when he wrote these, he never intended for them to be made public, and I’m sure every person reading this has private things they wouldn’t want made public, especially when taken completely out of context.

Quite honestly, I don’t care.

Yes, there were mistakes made during COVID. The entire damn world made them because people were scared, dying, and unsure what to do. Dr. Fauci and all the world were in uncharted waters in 2020 and I like to believe they did the best they could under the circumstances they were dealing with.

If congress is really interested in accountability, here’s a couple of items they could check out:

Congress passed a law in 2025 stating to release the entire Epstein file, it still hasn’t been done. Let’s get Donald Trump, Pam Bondi, and Todd Blanche under oath before Congress to answer questions about the blatant cover-up surrounding those files that’s been going on for over a year. Let’s find out why Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security prison she’s not qualified to be at due to the heinous nature of her crimes. Why did the president try to strong arm members of congress into not releasing the files?

How about Jack Smith’s report on President Trump’s election interference or the mishandling of classified documents? Why is that report being buried?

It strikes me funny that Ashley Biden’s diary was stolen and released by a conservative group, folks carried on endlessly about Hunter Biden’s laptop and now Dr. Fauci’s diary but these crimes don’t interest them.

Over the years, I’ve seen Hillary Clinton testify in front of Congress, Bill Clinton (and Hillary again), Jack Smith, Robert Mueller, Anthony Fauci, and many others.

When do we get to see Donald Trump do the exact same thing under threat of perjury if he lies about the seemingly endless number of scandals, corruption, and unethical behavior currently tied to him?

You know, his obvious market manipulation and insider trading, his crypto scam that helped him grow his personal net worth by $2 billion, the pay-for-play pardon scheme he has going on, where the money from Venezuelan oil is going, where the $10 billion he took for his “Board of Peace” has gone, and the details behind his attempt to sue his own government and “settle” for $1.8 billion.

When Republicans start opening investigations into all of that, getting Trump to appear before Congress and testify under oath, then maybe I’ll start taking them seriously. Otherwise, head back down your rabbit holes until the next issue you can dream up.
