SNL’S BEST

Saturday Night Live is fifty years old this week. The original premise of the show was to replace replays of the Tonight show starring Johnny Carson. Mr. Carson preferred to have the reruns run during the week so he could take some time off, so Saturday Night Live was born. The show has produced a lot of comedy legends, from the original cast right up to today, that have generated some awesome comedy over the years. I thought today, I would look at my favorite comedy sketches from over the years, you know, make a fun Friday! My top ten are as follows:

I love comedy the rides that fine line between humor and obscenity. Nothing does this better than “Cork Soakers”

Next up, NPR’s Delicious Dish, again cutting that fine line: Schweddy Balls

Who doesn’t love watching Sean Connery torment Alex Trebek in Celebrity Jeopardy:

Meet Your Second Wife, nothing funnier than seeing Keenan’s expression when his second wife isn’t even born yet:

Kate McKinnon steals the show with this performance: Close Encounter

Christopher Walken can’t ever escape this rountine, people ask about this skit more than some of his movies, More Cowbell:

A classic, Eddie Murphy as: I’m Gumby, damn it!:

Phil Hartman left way too soon, always played a great Sinatra: The Sinatra Group

What would SNL be without Weekend Update, Norm Macdonald was one of the best host for this skit.

Let’s finish with a recent one, there are so many great reasons to love this but Heidi Gardner losing it is the best! Beavis and Butthead:
