Selective Outrage!

I have often said that being President of the United States is more about the position then it is about the person. It is the most powerful position in the world. I never wish bad luck or ill will on anyone who is elected to our country’s highest office.

I like to wake up in the morning, drink a cup of tea and read the news on my laptop. Now, I didn’t watch President Trump’s speech last night, I just can’t listen to a guy who lies about everything with such ease, he really has turned it into an art form. With that said, I woke up this morning to what I like to call “selective outrage” by the usual suspects especially here on Facebook. You know who you are. Let me help you out with some facts. I know you folks hate those nasty little facts but here we are.

Republicans are upset today because Democrats didn’t stand and applaud during Trump’s SOTU address. Trump did a wonderful thing and honored a child cancer survivor, wonderful gesture! All the while, his budget is cutting NIH finding on cancer research, along with Medicaid, Medicare and veteran’s benefits. I hope that kid has a long and happy life but his presence at the SOTU address was like everything in Trump world, transactional. At last year’s SOTU address, republicans didn’t stand for in support of removing lead pipes for clean drinking water, ending cancer or protecting our troops. They refused to stand for IVF, even though most claim they now support it.

Unbelievably, Republicans didn’t even stand in defense of democracy — either here at home, or around the world — and they refused to stand up for NATO, the alliance that has kept the world safe for 75 years.

Heckling the President during his speech is just wrong in my opinion but let’s look at where it began because it was never a problem during the State of the Union speech until 2009. Remember this guy? Joe Wilson is his name, he heckled Barack Obama during his speech in 2009, you folks on the right were okay with that.

How about these two geniuses, Marge Greene and Lauren Boebert heckling Joe Biden during his speech, again crickets from the right on this. They weren’t removed from the chamber!

Before his speech yesterday, President Trump put this statement out on X.

The first amendment of the US Constitution literally guarantees the right to assembly and protest. Apparently, our President is unaware of this, and you folks didn’t say a word. You folks who are always screaming about how they are “infringing on your rights” or “coming for your guns” , how you are going to revolt against tyranny, were radio silent on this.

I saw at least three posts yesterday about how Bill Clinton got rid of 400,000 government job during his time as President. You are correct, he did. The Clinton administration worked with Congress to authorize $25,000 buyouts for federal workers and ended up eliminating more than 400,000 federal positions between 1993 and 2000 through a combination of voluntary departures, attrition and a relatively small number of layoffs. He didn’t have a billionaire, and his group of programmers send out letters asking for five things you accomplished last week that will determine your future employment status with the government.

Let me ask you folks who work in private industry, would you like your job status hanging on five bullet statements that some novice is going to evaluate and decide if you have a job or not? I believe I know the answer to that question.

I have a saying I use about Trumpers, “mouthfuls of bible quotes” and a “heart full of hate”. When you are out spewing your Trump rhetoric for the day, just remember, you voted for the guy who has bankrupted six businesses, been endorsed by the KKK in the past, who was convicted of sexual assault, impeached twice, started a riot and saw police assaulted about a total fabrication, stored top secret documents in a bathroom, sides with Russia over our own intelligence people, and thinks veterans are suckers. It’s the first thing I think of when I see you folks defending every despicable thing he does!

All these things above should outrage all Americans, democrats & republicans but as I stated above, it’s all about “selective outrage”. It fascinates me to watch people twist themselves into a pretzel to explain the weavings of Trump and Musk on their  view of America. Two men with six different wives and seventeen children are now the moral compass of America.
