The Uninvited

There are still people posting false and inaccurate claims on social media. Reading & reposting without taking the time to read or fact check. Folks running to other social media platforms because not everyone on their current platform agrees with them. Now that is a good way to open your mind. We will talk about that soon. I need to post about being mindful, courteous & considerate and step back from politics for a short period. This post goes back to the actions of people around us.

I am not trying to tell everyone how to live life. Nor am I telling everyone, the way I live is better. I am asking folks to be a little more mindful, courteous and considerate. Stop thinking about yourself & how “I get mine” and start thinking about the bigger picture. Before you take action, take a few seconds to evaluate what you are about to do, and think. For example: if you want to smoke, clog your lungs and shorten your life, please do so. It is your right. You want to smoke in your car, don’t let me stop you. But here is the kicker. If you don’t want the cigarette butt in your car, I don’t want it in my world.

If you are going to smoke in your car, keep your cigarette trash in your car. If you want to smoke outside of a building or while walking down the street, do it! When your done smoking, don’t throw your butt on the ground. Either find an ash can or trash receptacle (after putting your cigarette out). How about waiting until you get home and throw it in your house, in the trash can or in your yard. How about putting the shit in your pocket? What, that’s disgusting you say. Well so is having you think my world is your personal trash can. Stop throwing your cigarette butt in the street, on the sidewalk, in the grass or on the golf course (I bet that really pisses Tony off!). If it’s not good for you, then what makes you think it is good for anyone else?

The same goes for those of you who throw trash on the ground. Maybe you are related. I have a good idea, put your trash in a can, in your pocket or in your car. Keep it until you get home and then throw it in your house, in the trash can or in your yard. There are several off-ramps in Delaware where people use the base of the off-ramp as their personal dumping ground. Keep in mind your ignorance, begets more ignorance. If someone sees trash on the side of the road, they ASS-U-ME if it is ok for someone else to do, it’s ok for me. If you ever spent time in a State or Federal Park you would understand the effort/time it takes to keep an area clean of everyone’s trash. If you ever hiked the Appalachian Trail or any mountain range, you would understand. They call it “Carry in, Carry Out” or “Leave No Trace”. Whatever items you take into the park, you carry out. It forces you to make certain decisions prior to starting out on your trip. It makes you THINK about what you are about to do.

Some people are so afraid of not getting theirs, that they are willing screw others in the process. This isn’t survival of the fittest, this is pure ignorance. Take this scenario for example; You are driving behind someone, coming up on an intersection. The light is yellow. You and the person in front of you know a red light is coming next. The person in front of them has just passed through the intersection and has stopped just on the other side of the intersection not allowing anyone else to make it through without blocking the intersection. But regardless of the obvious, the person in front of you steps on the gas so they can pass the yellow light and not have to wait at a red light.  What a brilliant idea? Now that individual sits in the middle of the intersection oblivious to their surroundings. The traffic going across the intersection is deterred from proceeding. Amazing? Now everyone can sit there with traffic backing up in all directions because the bonehead in front of you didn’t want to wait maybe an additional 2 min. at a red light. Fuck everyone else.

I had this happen to me several years ago. The same exact scenario. I stopped at the intersection because if I proceeded forward, I would have blocked the intersection. Some bonehead behind me, cuts out of line, around me and proceeds into the intersection. The light in the crossing direction turns green, and now the intersection is blocked. REALLY! I put my car in park, shut it off, walked to the car now blocking the intersection and politely (not really) told them how proud I was that they made that move and fucked everyone involved. They were so happy with me calling them out in public, that their window remained up and they never took their eyes off the cars in front of them. They knew what they did. I’m sure they didn’t give a shit.

And here is another one. How about the fine citizens who pull up to a gas pump, pump their gas using a credit card or debit card, when finished pumping gas, they leave their car at the pump and proceed into the convenience store to purchase something other than more gas. Too lazy to move their car to a vacant parking spot You know who you are. Inconsiderate. It is called convenience because it should be convenient for everyone not just you. You have now taken up a pump spot from someone else, but who cares, they will just have to wait. REALLY! Did you get your drink, your food, maybe your cigarettes? All of which I am sure you will throw out your car window when you are finished. I have a good idea, park your car in a vacant parking spot, go into the store to purchase your items, get back into your car, move to an available pump and pump your gas.

Those of you who cannot take a moment to make an adjustment in your consideration for others ……. You’re uninvited!
