President Trump on Friday fired the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General C.Q. Brown, and pushed out five other admirals and generals in an unprecedented shake-up of U.S. military leadership.
The president has every right to fire and hire anyone he likes into these leadership positions. Let’s be honest about what he is doing though. I know honesty and Trump don’t go hand in hand, but I believe a quick history lesson and some facts would be helpful here.
President Trump always tells us he hires the best people for these leadership positions. Remember in his previous administration, he hired General Jim Mattis who was supremely qualified for the job but hated working with the lawbreaking Trump and resigned. He hired General John Kelly as his Chief of Staff, he also resigned because of Trump’s disrespect of the military. General HR McMaster hired as his national security advisor, resigned, all smart and outstanding military leaders, till they weren’t anymore. It’s always astonishing to me how these “best people” go from being the best to bums in Trump world.
In typical Trump fashion, he waited till Friday night to fire Gen. four-star Air Force fighter pilot Charles Q. Brown, and the first female Navy Secretary, Linda Franchetti after already firing Coast Guard Chief Linda Fagan. All were fired for being “to DEI”. In reality, it is weeding out hard-won competence.
None of this should surprise Americans, the sex abusing, day drunk, who is now our Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth has always had a disdain for General Brown, he mentioned is a podcast and in one of his books that he believes Brown got the jobs because of his skin color not because of his outstanding qualifications or honorable military career. Of course, President Trump & Hegseth have failed to mention that Trump nominated Brown to be the Air Force’s chief of staff. He hailed his own decision to appoint the “first-ever African American military service chief,” and called the general “a Patriot and Great Leader.” Hmm, another best people, out the door!
This coming from a guy was forced to step down by both nonprofit advocacy groups that he ran—Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America—in the face of serious allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct. What a classy guy, Pete is.
The president will also replace the head of the U.S. Navy, a position held by Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to lead a military service, as well as the Air Force vice chief of staff, the Pentagon said. He is also removing the judge advocates general for the Army, Navy and Air Force, critical positions that ensure enforcement of military justice. All dismissed because their dedication to the US Constitution and lack of loyalty to Donald Trump.
Trump’s replacement for the chairman is Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan “Razin’” Caine to head the joint chiefs of staff. “Razin’” Caine’s only qualification is that he is white. Also, he has embraced his nickname. Caine’s qualifications for the job include being associated with hedge fund tied to the crypto market, he has not had key assignments identified in law as prerequisites for the job, including serving as either the vice chairman, a combatant commander or a service chief.” He is woefully unqualified but as we all know, loyal to the cult leader.
These firings are horrible decisions that will have serious consequences, these positions are critical to our national defense. Let’s remember, all these leaders were fired for following the orders of the previous administration on DEI initiatives, they were doing their job and were dismissed because of it. I hope I am wrong but for me, I will not stand by and watch this republic become an autocracy. I will continue to badger our leaders and stand for what I served this country for, our Constitution and the rights of all people.
